Located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, Xpu-Ha (pronounced shpu-ha) is relatively calm beach with small beach bars, restaurants, and amazing views. Xpu-Ha has a laid-back vibe and is a favorite of locals. Right away we fell in love with the atmosphere at La Playa Xpu-Ha. A live band was performing, the water was beautiful, and the drinks were good. We spent a few hours sitting in lounge chairs, sipping drinks, before we ventured down the beach some. KSM Beach Club was a short walk down, and definitely on our places-to-visit-next-time list.
The entrance is located off of 307. We paid a small amount (like a few dollars) to drive down the road to the beach bar/restaurant. You can be reimbursed this fee if you purchase drinks and food and leave by 6pm. At the time we went, we needed to spend a little over $6 per person. A few drinks easily covered this cost. We also chose to rent chairs, but you can sit on the beach for no fee (other than the entrance cost).
Tips: Bring cash to cover your fees. Pesos are best, but you can pay with US dollars, as well. If you don’t want to pay for lounge chairs, bring your own.
